Slow Week Special! Suggestion Box Review #1: Transformers Age of Extinction

Hello All,

So these were a long time coming, but we finally start on the suggestion box reviews. Sorry these took so long, but this first film made me really regret this idea for the longest time. Anyone who knows me knows that I loathe Michael Bay's transformers movies with every fibre of my being. I’ll admit that now in retrospect the first movie is not the worst thing ever, but I’m guessing that was before they gave him free reign to do whatever he wanted with every sequel afterwards. I never saw the second one, but I got dragged to the third one and god did I hate it. So when I read that the fourth one was considered even worse than that, I swore to never watch it…..until now. Ladies, Gentlemen, and the loathsome human being who suggested this to me, I present: my review of Transformers 4: Age of Extinction.

Plot Summary - Taking place five years after the end of the previous film, both the Autobots and the Decepticons are on the run from the American Government, who now considers all of them hostile forces. When Struggling Inventor Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) comes across a wounded Optimus Prime by accident, the government forces them and Cade’s family to go on the run to find out the reason behind the government’s hunt for the transformers.

Pros - …………...There was like one exchange between Mark Wahlberg and the guy dating his daughter that was kind of funny.

Cons - Otherwise fuck this movie. That plot summary up there alone should tell you that this whole film is just a clusterfuck of half baked ideas, haphazardly slapped together, stitched in between ugly action scenes, an overabundance of needless slow motion, and Michael Bay’s usual self indulgences. The movie robbed me of precious life I will never get back, and the fact that they’re making another one of these goddamn things is simply proof to me that no one involved cares anymore. If the next one is good, I’ll sing it’s praises, but for now, fuck this series.

Final Score - 0/10

This is the worst movie I’ve ever had to watch for this blog, and this includes the ones I’ve walked out on. If you like these movies fine, but please for the love of god don’t preach them to me, I’ve finally tuned out.

Next Suggestion Review: Green Street Hooligans (1-3) - I’ve seen the first two, but not in quite some time. I’ll try to get these done quickly.
