Suggestion Box Review: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Hello All,

It’s great to be back! You know, having done 300 of these previously, it’s a nice reminder to me how much I love doing this whenever I take a break from it (as needed as those breaks may be.) It happened to work out that this fell on a surprisingly quiet week, and while I did mean to get myself caught up on both my suggestion box and complete series of gamera films, a nice break was clearly in the cards for me as well. I’m back now though, and I’m glad I get to return on a film like this, so without further ado, let's get to it shall we?

Plot Summary - When Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon) becomes tired of being the king of Halloween Town, he stumbles upon Christmastown, and decides to steal the holiday for his very own.

Pros - What more could I possibly say about this film that hasn’t already been said? The film’s a classic in terms of just how well it all works together so well. The voices are great, the songs are great, it’s greatly blends christmas and halloween together by showing off both of their strengths, it’s just an awesome film through and through.

Cons - If I absolutely had to nitpick, it’d be about two specific things. The first one would be when Sally has the premonition about Jack's plans going awry, because what causes her to have the vision? She’s a toxicologist, not a psychic, all I’m saying. Secondly, why is oogie boogie a gambling man? Does that make him more evil, or does he do it for the admittedly awesome set pieces in his lair? Honestly, that’s it. Those are my only real issues.

Final Score - 10/10

Still an awesome film, If you haven’t yet for the love of god watch it!

Next Suggestion Box Review: Doom (2005) - One of the Rock’s early films. Haven’t see this one before actually, but I’ve heard bad things. This should be fun.

Next Review: The Complete Series Gamera VS Gyaos - Next, we see how Gamera handles the flying Menace that is Gyaos
