Movie Review: The Fate of The Furious (2017)

Hello All,

Oh boy it’s this time again isn’t it? Another film in a franchise that I really don’t like has arrived that everyone else likes and I yet again get to be the odd man out. You know, let’s just get through this shall we?

Plot Summary - This time around, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) turns against his team when a mysterious hacker by the name of Cipher (Charlize Theron) shows up with something he wants in tow.

Pros - So this time around, we get a lot more Rock and Jason Statham together, and it’s easily the best thing about this movie. The two of them together play off of each other well, and are just a joy even when they’re apart also. Kurt Russell is still awesome this time around, even if he’s basically a glorified cameo. There are also two other cameos that I’m not going to spoil, but they’re pretty good as well. The action scenes are alright, and there’s even a few creative sequences this time around to boot. Also, ten points to anyone who can figure out my favourite scene from the movie.

Cons - The plot is dumb as nails, the rest of the cast is coasting, except for Tyrese Gibson who manages to be fucking annoying throughout the whole film. There’s also callbacks to previous films that are basically pointless, and once you start nitpicking the details the film doesn’t hold up.

Final Score - 6/10

You know what, this film is mostly dumb nonsense, but I think it’s finally found a tone that I can somewhat enjoy. If there’s more Rock and Jason Statham, fuck it, I’m in.

Next: 300th Blog Post Special!!! - Boy I can’t wait for it, and hopefully you guys will enjoy it.
