Hello All,
You know what’s weird? All day I’ve been hearing about this Superb owl, and yet I have not seen the thing anywhere. It’s really odd. Anyways, so it looks like another limited release film has finally made it’s way to my area, and it’s another one I’ve really been looking forward too. I’ve been a really big fan of Natalie Portman since I first saw Black Swan and I’ve been hearing really great things about the film as well. So was the wait worth it? Let’s find out together shall we?
Plot Summary - The film follows the life of Jackie Kennedy (Natalie Portman) during and after her time in the white house, following the death of her husband.
Pros - Portman is easily the best thing about this film. She gives off a terrific range as Jackie and owns every scene she’s in. The supporting cast around her is great as well, being there to help move the story forward with just the right amount of presence. The film doesn’t try to pull any political punches as well, mostly being framed around a real interview Jackie gave a short time after the assassination happened. It also tries to show her efforts of trying to restore the white house while being first lady.
Cons - The story isn’t told in a straightforward manner, mostly presented in the order Jackie feels like talking about it, which might prove frustrating for some.
Final Score - 10/10
Honestly, I ended up liking this film way more than I thought I would, even as someone who doesn’t know much about her going in. I’d definitely recommend it.
Next: The Lego Batman Movie - That’ll be Thursday, I might see Space Between Us before then, but that one I’m playing by ear.
