(Spoiler Free) Movie Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Hello All,

(Side Note: Please Take a moment after you read this to see what I’m reviewing next, I think most of you will get excited for it.)

I don’t want to dawdle to long so I’ll try and keep this brief. This will be a spoiler free review, but I did want to say something quickly. Back when I started this back in 2014, the first Guardians was just another Marvel Movie, but also the first real gamble they were making. Luckily for us now, the movie was a success (and my favourite film of that year), and three years later we have the sequel. So how well does this film follow suit? Let’s find out together shall we?

Plot Summary - After completing a job for a race known as the Sovereign, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) reveals that he has taken something from them, and they begin to try and take it back. It’s during that journey, they meet a mysterious man (Kurt Russell) claiming to be the father to Star Lord (Chris Pratt), leading he and the rest of the guardians Drax (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) (And Rocket as well just didn’t want to credit twice) on their next adventure.

Pros - I don’t even know where to start. Maybe by stating how there wasn’t a single moment where I was bored while watching it. The film just switches so perfectly between Comedy, Action, Drama, having really touching scenes that are perfectly broken up with comedy, and vice versa. The cast is amazing, both old and new additions. Visually, it’s never dull. Everything that’s updated has been done well, and every new thing manages to look even more distinctive than the last. There’s basically four-ish plots, and they balance each other out perfectly. There are also 5 end credits scenes (no I’m not joking) that are all just perfect, though some will need to be figured out by the vast majority of people (I just looked them up myself actually.)

Cons - There’s one part, and I’m not going to spoil it, that kind of bugs me. That’s all I can say, If anybody wants to ask me afterwards what part, I’ll be happy to tell them.

Final Score - 10/10

Even the part that bugs me is insignificant when compared to just how truly awesome this movie is. While admittedly the tone of it all can feel a touch familiar, it just does it so damn well that I was physically exhausted by the time it was done. Seriously people, go watch this movie, but definitely watch the first one before it if you haven’t already.
