The Complete Series: Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Hello all,

In the last part of our look at the series before Mission Impossible Rogue Nation comes out, we examine the previous, and some would say, the best one in the franchise Ghost Protocol. As someone who has only watch the other previous films in just this past week, minus the first one, I thought it would be hard to top number three. So did it succeed?

Plot Summary - After being busted out of prison, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) must bust into the kremlin to find out more about a man known as Cobalt and to prevent him from stealing Nuclear launch codes. But when Cobalt sets them up for destroying the Kremlin, the entire IMF goes on Ghost Protocol, meaning they are disavowed with absolutely no back up. Now Ethan and his team must find the codes and prevent nuclear using only what they have and each other.

Pros - This one by far has the biggest stakes out of any of them meaning I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The story was really well done too, multi layered without being overwhelming and it all tied up nicely by the end of it. It’s well acted, the new additions to the cast are superb, and it was great to see Simon Pegg being more of a co star in this one.

Cons - We basically never learn too much about the villain and I was a little disappointed by that as he seemed to be really interesting as a man who thinks peace can only be achieved through nuclear means. I wanted to see more of his mind set like we did Hoffman in the previous film. Also we don’t see Luther until the end but I’m guessing he had film commitments elsewhere.

Final Score - 9/10

If had gotten to see a little more of the villain, had he been done well, I would’ve liked this a bit more but as of now, it’s on par with three with me.

Rogue Nation is out on Friday, I will do my best to see and review it A.S.A.P

As for the complete series, I rather enjoyed doing this and while it might not be a while until the next one, I already have a new series in mind for it.

So until then, I’ll see you folks at the movies.
